New job, New TV

August 15th, 2010 · 5 Comments

Hi readers!  If anyone has noticed I haven’t had a chance to blog in a while.  That’s because I found a normal corporate job and it turns out I had to come out of my early retirement.

It sucks that I haven’t been able to share my Singapore experience but I hope to do so again soon.

It was pretty good timing.  I kinda predicted that it would be easier to find work once the economy has started to recover and so it seemed I was right.

I bought my husband a 47” FULL HD LCD TV with my first paycheck during the last computer expo.  It was good value for money.  And till now I find it awesome to watch HD movies in.

The brand is a local one from Singapore called Palladine but they say that the LCD panel is the same as LGs.

We bought the 47” model without the DLAN for less than 1000k.  (I can’t remember how much exactly but I think it was just about 900 SGD).  So far it’s great.  I love that it has a USB input and the built-in player can play some of my movies that previously only my computers could play.  My dvd player’s USB input and my portable DVD player couldn’t play some of my movies but this new TV can so plus points for that.

hi, i found your page when i searched for job opportunities in singapore. i’m planning to go to there in november but kindda worried if it’s a good timing. though everythings settled, (except for the job of course) i’ve already got accommodation, an airline ticket and a budget for a two-month stay there while looking for a corporate job. some were saying it’s hard to find a job there nowadays. i’m an accountant/financial analyst. could you give me some tips/advice. thanks! :)

Hi Celeste! I guess there’s always a risk of not finding a job here. The worst case is you had a nice long vacation in Singapore. But I read that the economy is picking up and it usually follows that more jobs will be created. At the same time though, the Singapore Government is trying to control the influx of foreign workers so they’re no longer as open as some 2-3 years ago. I would highly suggest that you use the remaining time you have before you fly here to send resumes our and secure as many interview appointments with companies here.

I suggest you go to the forum of http://www.pinoysg.com too. There are a lot of fellow pinoys there who can help. :)
