Maria: You can ask for a copy of the contract from a friend of yours, $600++ is the price because they compute together with the levy (minimum is $350 for filipino). Use the contract and present it to the embassy, I think agency here can help you there as well.

Elly: I think that is the new requirement now by POEA, but as this blog has suggested, there's a way not to follow it. I understand the need for gov't to require it, as a lot of maids are being abused are come unprepared in SG. If it's a credible agency and registered in POEA, it should be relatively trouble free, more expensive though.

hi! i have a nanny in Philippines, 22 years old, and i want to bring her here in Singapore. We have a quote in some agencies for about 3k(including ticket) and 1800 Sgd, excluding airfares and they said she have to take a 4weeks course. Is it true? I badly needed her now because i have two kids. And does hiring my own nanny through agency will not have any trouble at all in Phils?..thanks

Also, I've read an article stating that the Phil. Govt requires employers to pay their helpers Sgd550/mo. Another standard contract issued by Phil. Embassy which I've seen in Orchard Employment Agency's site stated that sgd600/mo should be the maid's salary. what if you and your maid have agreed on an amount lower to it prior her arrival here? Would there be some issues moving forward? Help please. Thank you!!

Hi smartyaclm, Christine and Esther Lee,

Can any of you help with this? After reading comments here, I'm just worried that we might have some issues once we (together with our helper) need to go back in Manila for a vacation. I understand that POEA/OWWA stuff is required but do they require it to have everything accomplished before the helper gets here in Singapore? The thing is, we're able to bring our helper here just this month by following the steps in this site. We're currently finalizing everything, med exam is the only thing needed to be accomplished then we're ready to have her WP issued. I'm getting paranoid on how we can process the needed docs of POEA/OWWA without having any problems noting that our helper is already here and have passed PH immigration as a tourist to SG.

Appreciate your help on this.

Thanks so much!

Hi Jean i am wondering how are you going with getting an approval for your 19 years old maid ? I intend to bring mine from Indonesia too but she is 22. Can anyone here share their experience & knowledge about this & how stringent is MOM with its age policy? Thanks very much.

Hi, I am having a Filipino maid with me now in KL (with Malaysia worknpermit) and I would like to bring her to Singapore as I got a new job there. How should I go about it? I guess she will be treated as new case in SG. Shall I go thru the local SG to save all the trouble or I can do it myself as per the above guidelines? Furthermore, will she have problems if she goes back to her home country? Thank you!

My brother's maid have left for phillipines when her dad past away, and my family really missed her. so i'm currently trying to employ her back under my name.
I have already gotten the in principle approval from MOM, but is stuck at the POEA application and employment contract as i need a accredited agency to endorse it.

all the agency i have contacted offer charges above $1800, without insurance and plane tickets, is this the norm?

and Jean, how safe is it to bring her through as tourist? email me @ desmond.sum@gmail.com if possible to elaborate on the process. i also find it unjust to subject her to the maid loan.
