Canele’ Patisserie Chocolaterie

September 14th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Yesterday, Mr. Tsiken and I tried Canele’ Patisserie Chocolaterie at the Shaw Centre on Scotts Road (beside Mc Donald’s.)  For those from Manila, their menu kinda reminds me of Bizu specially with all those appetizingly pretty cakes on display.

I’d say the price is on the expensive end of the reasonable spectrum.  Expensive side because until now I still compare value for money with how much I can get the same quality for in Manila.  But everything is more expensive here in Singapore, so for Singapore standards it’s quite reasonable already.  We tried the beef stew in red wine, the baked rice topped with bolognaise and parmesan, the jupiter cake, and nougatine ice cream.  The one I’d definitely come back for would be the nougatine ice cream but then again I’m a sucker for ice cream of any kind.  Jupiter is a rich cake with dark chocolate, flourless cake and pecans – a combination that pushes all the right buttons for me.  As soon as I read the description, I knew I had to try it.

Our bill was about $56.00 which wasn’t so bad considering we just ate S$71 worth the night before at Boon Tong Kee.  I don’t know how we consume all that food.  Before that I thought our previous S$40.00 bill at Boon Tong Kee was already too much.

We need to go on a diet otherwise I’d really look like a fat matron when I serve as matron-of-honor for my friend’s wedding on December.

Sorry for not posting pictures.  Food makes me forget about everything else.

    Hi Ghe,

The recipe found here is what I usually follow.

Then I’d give the chicken a dash of sesame oil before serving.

The site also has a recipe for chili crab but I haven’t tried the recipe. Let me know how it works for you.

    :)
