Starhub Internet sucks big time

June 17th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I have noticed a major slowdown in our internet connection for the past few months now. When we first signed up for Starhub a year and a half ago, we got the 12Mbps connection. That was unheard of in the Philippines. In the Philippines, you’d be happy with a 1Mbps connection speed. So I thought at 12Mbps, I wouldn’t have a problem at all. But the past few months, I can’t even watch a youtube video without having to wait for it to buffer or use my webcam without it freezing.

We are paying about $80 a month for a service that gives me an equivalent of a 56k connection speed.

It is 12:30 AM on a weekday. I decided to check my internet connection speed using this tool. I made sure nothing else was using bandwidth and this is the result I got:

I’m not even expecting to reach 12Mbps but 40KBps? Heller???
