Muji

This store is kinda the muted version of Ikea and it reminds me so much of Anonymous in Manila during the 90’s.  If you’re into basic or muted colors and simple design like I am, then you’d love this store.

But I have mixed feelings about Muji.  Their designs are not that all complicated nor innovative.  If you take them out of the store and mix it with your other stuff, they don’t look that exclusive either.  If you were a person who really has an eye for detail, then you’d easily find a cheaper version of the same quality at a department store.  And if you look at the tags, they’re mostly produced in China.

So I don’t understand why their items are priced much more expensive than Ikea.   At least at Ikea, you find products that would make you feel that someone with much higher product design IQ worked on it.

In fairness, I still buy stuff at Muji but probably not as much as I’d want to ‘coz some of the prices, I feel, are insulting to me as a consumer.

I think I’ve matured as a consumer and I’m always looking for value for my money.  It doesn’t mean I don’t buy expensive stuff but the price difference has to account for something - either one or a combination of quality, exclusivity, function, convenience… you know what I mean?
