Pinoy in Singapore

I went to the PC show at Suntec City this afternoon hoping (though not really expecting) to find an Asus eee pc 901.  Unfortunately, though not unexpectedly, I went home disappointed.

I did see the Asus eee pc 900 selling for S$798 without any freebies which roughly translates to about P24000.00.  I feel it’s almost the same price in Manila which defeats the purpose of me buying it at the PC show.  (My purpose being to get cool gadgets at bargain prices.)

Shows like these are held every quarter of the year and I’ve been to almost all of them since we moved to Singapore.  So it’s basically the same stuff – TV, laptops, cameras etc.  With the inflation rate rising and businesses trying to cope with it, I don’t think I could still find really good bargains anyway.

But it’s almost my birthday and Mr. Tsiken is asking me what I want for my birthday.  What I want, what I really really want is a mutual fund but that doesn’t excite Mr. Tsiken and it’s something I do buy regularly anyways.

He’s tempting me to get a MacBook.  The cheapest, which is the 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1Gb RAM, 120Gb HDD Sata is selling for S$1688.00 with 15% off if we charge it to our POSB credit card.  But a MacBook is like a big commitment for me.  Just thinking about it makes me feel the pressure of using it so that it’d be worth buying.

What I think I want but Mr. Tsiken thinks I don’t need is a new DSLR.  I’m sick of my kit lens because it doesn’t have Image stabilization IS.  Between buying a new lens with IS, I think I would much rather upgrade to a better camera body whose kit lens has IS.  The Canon EOS 450D with EF-S 18-55 IS is S$1499 and it comes with two 4Gb SD card, EOS lens Workbook, EOS bag, 20 DVD+R discs, and a 120Gb ext HDD.  (Drools)

In summary, this post just basically says there’s so many things I want but there’s really nothing I’m desperate for.
