I just got back from Bangkok and I still think the Philippines deserves a spot in the top destinations in Asia. But I have a new found appreciation for the city of Bangkok and I now understand why it would place 10th. Maybe because this time I wasn’t on a package tour and we stayed at a posh hotel. Plus I think there’s been so much development since last time I went there.
Bangkok is very tourist friendly. The hotel we stayed at (Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit) was directly connected to the Asok Skytrain and the Sukhumvit MRT station so it was really easy to get around.
The food is great! And after living in Singapore for more than a year now, it seems everything is cheap! The only thing I found that was cheaper in Singapore was the shutter shades. They were selling it for 180 Baht in Bangkok when it’s just 3 for 10 Sgd at Lucky Plaza.
I also got to eat at this Mexican grill place near the hotel - Sunrise Tacos - where the servers are mostly Filipino. I asked them if a Filipino owned the place and the server said it’s just that the owner realized that most of his customers are westerners and Filipinos can speak and understand English better. And the food is good and cheap which is even better. It’s a good place to go if you’re looking a break from Asian cuisine. Cool!

I saw the shutter shades selling in Bangkok for about P250.00 and selling here in Singapore for 3 for S$10 which translates to about P110 each. Unfortunately when I bought one, the cheap shutter shades were already out of stock so the one I got for my brother is about P500.00.

Hey, thanks for replying. It’s a lot more than I expected. I thought it would be really, CHEAP!. I just run into a site and they’re selling it for like $2 or less than a P100. .
