It’s that time of the year again when most shops and malls (and there’s a LOT of them) in Singapore goes on sale up to 70% off. So for those planning to visit Singapore you might want to schedule it so that you’d be here during the Great Singapore Sale to maximize your shopping pleasure. That’s between May 23 to Jul 20 2008.
There’s something for everyone - from designer clothes to techie gadgets. Even without the sale I know for a fact that storage devices like external hard drives and thumb drives and digital cameras are much cheaper in Singapore than in Manila. The Great Singapore Sale site is still under construction but check back in later to see what special offers they have for tourists.
And while you’re here, be sure to sample the variety of food Singapore has to offer. My personal favorites are Hainanese Chicken Rice, Black Pepper Crab (I prefer it over Chilli Crab), and to quench the heat try a scoop of my favorite Macadamia Supreme from New Zealand Natural Ice Cream or Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie dough (I scream for ice cream!!!). Ok, so the ice cream is not really local to Singapore but I don’t think we have those brands in Manila yet.
If you’re gonna be here before June 30th, you might want to check out and join the Travelpod contest and stand a chance to win a trip back to Singapore and stay at a 5 star hotel and be seen in Singapore advertisements around the world.
A friendly tip to those that will visit:
Be sure to bring comfy shoes or sandals, coz you’re in for a lot of walking.
Tourists are entitled to a Tax refund for single receipts of at least S$100.00 so don’t forget to ask the shops for your Tax Refund form and keep them until you’re at the airport on your way back home. Present all your Tax refund forms at the GST Counter before you check-in as they might want to see the items you bought to make sure you are taking them out of Singapore.
