Nuabs

We saw these Nuabs sandals a couple of months back at the Red Wing shop at Suntec City Mall while we were helping Mr. Tsiken’s cousin look for steel toe shoes. I loved them immediately and wanted to buy a pair for Mr. Tsiken but we have this rule about not buying anything on impulse and Mr. Tsiken wasn’t as convinced at first coz he thought it was a little pricey for S$91.90. But eventually it grew on him too. At first we were trying to avoid giving in to temptation. We went in a couple of times to try it and told ourselves we’d think about it. But it’s always there at the back of my mind screaming “Take me! Take me!”

So finally, today, we got ourselves a pair of his and hers (they’re unisex actually) and we’re happy. It’s comfy and it looks good!

You know what’s amazing though, I checked out their website nuabs.com and they only have one product – these sandals. I guess that’s all you really need – one good product. Their marketing efforts didn’t even reach us, we just saw the sandals at the shop and liked them instantly.

From their site, I found out that:

The nuabs sandals are inspired by those worn traditionally by farmers and peasants across the world. They were originally made from discarded tyre rubber cut to the size of one’s feet. A piece of animal hide would then be sewn over these rubber soles, and secured with a back-strap.

Fashion is a little ironic sometimes. We just bought a pair of sandals worth S$91.90 (P2700.00) that mimic those worn by farmers and peasants. But what the heck, I like them and that’s ultimately what matters.

For their Mother’s Day promotion, they’re giving away a small bottle of lemongrass lotion made by a women’s cooperative from Thailand which seeks fair wages and job security for its members. We are all for fair trade! :)

Must try fitflops too! They’re uber-comfy for laid-back weekends or even to the office (depends on the style you’ll choose) but ultimately worth it from S$80-120. It’s USP: Get a work-out while you walk.
    Thumbs & Big toes-UP!
