Ok, it’s not really a garden and more like just 5 pots but it’s a good start. I’ve always wanted to have a garden where I can harvest my ingredients for tonight’s dinner from.
I initially wanted to put the plants on the countertop ala Barefoot Contessa but unfortunately there’s no more room in there. So the small ledge outside our kitchen will do.
These potted herbs I bought all the way from Oh Chin Huat Hydroponic Farms (Pte) Ltd 14A Bah Soon Pah Road. It’s about 15-20 minutes leisure walk away from Khatib, the nearest MRT station. The herbs are grown hydroponically but they can easily be transferred into potted soil. Each pot is S$2.50.
It was almost 5PM when we got there but Mr. Oh was still able to accommodate us with our questions. He was very enthusiastic about explaining what the herbs are for and how we should take care of them.
If I don’t manage to kill these plants in a few months, I’m planning to buy some more (like mustard or kangkong).
I read from other forums that there are also potted herbs being sold at Cold Storage but I can’t seem to find one whenever I try looking.

Sir, are you living on a landed house? However I see some neighbors around me (HDB) who use those vacant spot to fill-up with some pottery flower plants but did not notice any potted herbs yet. Maybe since I only use to passby by them. And I don’t want them thinking that I’ll do some nasty things with their plants, you know.
Here you will learn to appreciate plants and trees since Singapore is just a small country. In the Phillipines whenever we stay at my Lola’s Rice Farm, we just pick some variety of vegetables, planted all over the place, to be cook fresh for lunch or dinner, with some freshly cook ‘bagoong’. Haay, how I sometimes miss having that simple Life in the Bukid.

Hi Froi,
We live in a condo. (Fortunately, we got it before the steep hike in rental price.)
I placed my plants in the small area where we do our laundry. I also miss how homes in the Philippines always have an area for your tanim. My husband’s home in the province also has a lot vegetables planted in their backyard like talong, suha, etc. That’s where they get their vegetables from.
That’s why I chose to get potted herbs so I can also use if for cooking.
The Hydroponics farm is very interesting. Public visitors are free to go around the farm and have a look at the plants.
