For a country no bigger than Quezon City just slightly bigger than Metro Manila, it’s amazing how Singapore has managed to preserve its natural environment.
This tour is perfect for those visiting with their kids. It’s a chance for the kids to learn about and appreciate animals and the environment and for them to see animals that might otherwise be extinct in the near future like the polar bear.
Theme: Wildlife
Duration: 1-2 days
I think the best plan is to get to Jurong Bird Park by 9:30AM (nearest station Boon Lay - Green line). This way, you get to see ALL the shows. After the 1PM show, you can go to the Singapore Zoo. (The Bird Park and the Zoo are about 30 mins away to the nearest station, Chio Chu Kang/ (or Ang Mo Kio if you’ll be coming from east area.)
You can grab a bite outside the parks (S$6-10/PhP 192-320/meal) before and/or after going in or try the Bongo burger (at least S$15 / PhP 480) which is cheaper at the bird park than in the night safari.
At the zoo you can do the suggested afternoon itinerary at their site or just wander around on your own.
Note: I’m an animal lover so to me this tour is a must see. There’s a zoo in the Phil that also employs the open-zoo concept - the Avilon Zoo in Montalban. The species of course are much limited there and the area is not as big and green compared to the Singapore zoo. Last I went to Avilon the big cats were caged and only the small animals are out in the open.
