hi, i would like to check with you guys if okay lang for an employer to ask their applicant to pay for the processing of pass? my friend told me kasi, na pag direct employer daw, sila na ang bahala dun but in one company i applied to today, they are asking me to pay the pass application, then if okay, another payment for medical, etc. total is less than $500. thanks!

Hi and good pm to all!

I am currently reside and work on the largest broadcasting company here at PH as a graphic artist supervisor while having a freelance work of website developing and design. I was wondering if my forte on such career could somehow have opportunity to work at SG. I have 15yrs of graphic arts & designs experience and gathered expertise on website design and development for 8yrs. It probably sounds good, but in reality it wasn’t fine enough to get a mediocre type of shelter for my family or send my kids on college.

I am on a plan to get on SG as a tourist, then walk-in apply to wherever opportunity and luck leads me. I am a mercenary in time, with no trouble of eating seeds for lunch. Got my documents prepared ie: COE, NBI clearance, certificates, portfolio and resume.

When my friend gets there last month he told me that his relatives who work/resides on SG sent him an invitation. He offered me the idea of sending it to me, so I could also use it? I am not so sure about it, but maybe you guys have some insights on this. Another thing that bothers me is that I am already 41yrs old. Does it mean that I only had fewer chance of getting employed? And how much money do I need as my budget if I decide to pursue this?

I am still gray and confused. I need someone that could somehow get me on right directions before this actions would take me to the point of no turning back.

Thanks for reading my friends

That is true! If the work experience isn't relevant to the position applying for, much better to go for TEP 'cos you'll POSSIBLY be approved (not probably). Some TEP application sometimes get rejected. I've heard that MOM sometimes grant you TEP valid for 6 months, and some 1 year. And you can apply for TEP twice only, and after that apply for other companies that can apply for you an s/e pass. So if you're a a degree holder, your experience must be relevant to your degree as well as to the position you're applying for. Or if not, your degree might not be relevant but the experience must be to the position. If I were you, try to apply for jobs related to your experience and a little to your degree. Because when the employer apply to MOM for your pass, they will ask to upload your diploma and information related to work experience. It would be better if your work experience in one company is more than 3 years. One year of experience is not good. I've also heard that if you go for agencies in the Philippines, you will not only pay there but also pay an agency that will cater you when you arrive here in singapore. Better look for relatives in singapore that will help you sponsor for your stay and come here for a social visit pass. Hope this helps.

Hi! I've applied thru an agency here in the Philippines, they told me na TEP lang ang ia-apply nila for me since my work experience isn't in-line with the position i'm applying for. Anyways, the representative from the agency here said that the contract is for 2 years. What advice can you give me? Thanks!

By the way TEP is good only for 6 months and some have 1 year. And the salary is only 1,200. It's a good way to start though.

Of course, HRM grads have a lot of opportunities here in Sg. One year of experience only somehow is not enough for you to apply on your own and secure yourself an spass. It's good thing that you are open to go for agencies. I've known one, it is a training center (somewhat like an employment agency) and the name is ett. They will just help you find an employer and apply a Training Employment Pass (TEP) to Ministry of Manpower. As of the moment, they ask S$1450 in all for the fees. Unfortunately, i've heard that singapore will stop giving out TEP this june. It would be better if you come as early as possible before june. Godd luck to you.

Greeting for Peace!

I am Anthony B. Malanguis, residing in the Philippines and recently graduated taking the degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. I just want to inquire if there are opportunities for us! I already have a one year experience in a the hotel in Singapore as a Banquet staff. Moreover I would like to ask, if you could help me introduce any agencies . Do you know any agencies that could help us land a job in Singapore?

Thank you and more power!
