  Hi Ric,

  There are people who go to Singapore as tourists and look for a job while on vacation. But tourists from the Phils are only allowed a max of 30 days stay in Singapore, after which you have to go back to Manila.

  Hi Arnel,

  EPEC stands for employment pass eligibility certificate while EP stands for Employment Pass. The EP is what you get when you find a job in Singapore. The EPEC allows you stay in Singapore for up to 1 year while looking for a job so you can get an EP. So for example, if you came to Singapore as a tourist and it’s been 30 days and still no job, then activating your EPEC would be one option to let you stay longer in Singapore and continue job hunting.

  Hi Anne,

  You can surely give it a try. I know most people do just that. I’d recommend that even before you get on a plane to Singapore, you should start checking out online job sites to get a feel of the job market so you will have a more realistic expectation especially in these economic downturn.

  What are the requirements to get an EPass? Do we need to pass a DFA Authenticated copy of TOR and Diploma or a photocopy would suffice?

  Hi Christine,

  For details on the employment pass application, visit the Minister of Manpower website. The EPass section is here: http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/communities/work_pass/employment_pass.html

  But usually your employer would help you get an EPass since you need to be sponsored by a Singapore company to get one in the first place.

  If you’re not yet employed then you might want to look into getting an EPEC. See link in comment #4.

  The e-pass visa will be sponsored by the company you work for. Some go to Singapore on a tourist visa and see if they can get a job from a company that can sponsor their employment pass. But this is not always the case. When you’ve reached the maximum period you can stay as a tourist, you will need to exit Singapore.

  when is the right time to apply EPEC, while you were in Philippines or during the 30days stay in SG? MOM stated apply if you’re ready, meaning prior to the travel???

  HI,

  I have a friend who worked in singapore 2 years ago, her contract is for 2 years but she has to go home & cancelled her epass after working for 1 year. she didn’t have any violation or what so ever. she even processed all necessary exit documents before going back to the Phils. can she still get a new one (epass)? one of the agencies where she applied for work recently told her that if you already had an epass and cancelled it, you’re not going to be granted a new one by MOM. is that true?

  hi! ill be in singapore in a month, i did find a job there through one of the agencies here in manila. they told me that they sponsored me an e pass since im a degree holder here in the philippines. but then ill be working as a frontliner in an italian resto in singapore they offered me 1100sd plus sevice charge? would that be ok? after 2 years of my contract, how would i renew my e-pass? need help badly thank you.

  Hi Aira, it depends on what lifestyle you would like to maintain. In my opinion though, S$1100 can only support single and young people. You would only be able to afford to rent a room. It depends really if you compare it to the options you have there in the Philippines. Just don’t forget to consider that cost of living in Singapore is twice as much, maybe more.
  But I’m sure there are many people who get by on this salary and still manage to send back some to their family in the Philippines. Good luck!

  hi ms. tsiken, thank you so much.. i really wanted to work somewhere else outside manila specifically singapore since in my current job i only get to be paid just enough for my six days allowance..:-) i know 1100sd is really not that enough but then i was thinking maybe just maybe that amount would somehow compensate me since i still have my service charge..:-) btw, ill be working in trattoria l’ ancora somewhere in bukit timah road..maybe you could help me find a place where i could stay near that area and cheaper bedspace maybe.. thanks ms. tsiken.. u are indeed a great help..:-)

  Hi Kat, not sure if this helps but when we brought in our maid, the in principle approval for her work permit was recognized only at Singapore immigration. She still had to go to Philippine immigration as a tourist because technically, she doesn’t have any permit/pass yet.

  I would expect that the Philippine IO would ask for official papers and POEA membership.

  i went to sg last aug-sept. i got a job but then my e-pass got rejected twice so i got no choice but to go back to phils. before going back in the phils i had a pending application after several days they are applying for me again for a s-pass but then the HR head told me that I got rejected twice and that thjere is no possibility that if they will apply for it again, for sure it will be rejected. it is very disappointing. i just like to know if this records will remain in MOM forever?because am still planning to go back to sg asap.

  Hi,
  I am an e-pass holder. I resigned from my agent a month ago, and was surprised during my last day in the company because my agent didnt cancel my pass. they hold my salary because they said they will wait for the iras(tax). my last day was saturday, and knew it on that evening. On sunday, I went back home so I bring my epass with me. Now, I have a new job in the other country, how to return this epass to MOM? I dont want to be blocklisted by MOM because I’m planning to go back to sg if there is an opportunity. The other problem is I cannot get my salary because they didnt cancel my work permit. can I still take a vacation to sg? advice please. Thank you.

  hi i was just informed that my EPass has been approved from an agency but i was thinking of canceling it since my salary is just $1300 and have to pay the agency $2800 and the job is not related on my field and hoping that ill be directly hired so i wouldn’t have to pay. so my question is, if i cancel my EPass will MOM reject my new Pass for a different company because of the cancellation? and if my EPEC will be a plus point?

  Opinion ko lng to ha! Im currently working in sg now for 1yr already.
  Actually, kng nsa pinas k at nka agency k, mura n dn yang 2,800 fee, kc mostly ung mga kilala ko n nag agency s pinas almost 4k bnyad nla. At ung 1,300 n salary, ok lng dn.
  Kng andto k s sg at nagtourist ka then nag agency ka mura n yan fee. Tska isipin mo n lng ung hrap mo pra icancel mo ung work mo, bka un p mging reason pra mreject kn s sunod.
  Pwde k nman hanap ng iba after 6months. Tyagain mo muna.

  hi..i wanted to ask,,,since i have the same question as that of jhae..i already have an IPA and a fin numebr when i checked with MOM. the thing is…becasue of some financial difficulties recently, i cannot pay forthe plcament fee at 160k. when the agency told me that my employer cannot wait for me anymore.they fferred me a different job but would only pay 15oo sgd,,,

  would a next employer have hrad time applying for my epass again since i might be cancelling the offer ?

  ruthy carbonell- Hi, Yung IPA po may expiration date na 1 year, pag kinansel po yung pass mo ng employer kagad, or kinansel yung pass mo ng walang pang 6 months, posible pong mahirapan ka sa susunod dahil magkakaroon ka ng Bad Record, Pero hindi ibig sabihin nun hindi ka makakalusot dipende parin sa “luck” mo at qualifications mo. Kaninang Umaga sa Radyo narinig ko na nag hihigpit na sila sa pag bigay ng Pass so yung mga S-PASS pababa mahihirapan ma approve, mag coconcentrate po sila sa E-PASS..Lalakihan pa nila ang sahod ng E-PASS pero mas Pahihirapan pa nila ang requirements para maka kuha ng E-PASS. yun po ang intindi ko sa balita.

  Pag katapos ko matanggal sa trabaho, nag hanap ako ng bagong work, dahil wala pang 6 months na cancel na ang pass ko nagkaroon ang ng bad record sa sg. na reject yung application ko. TAYO, wala tayong magagawa, pero yung nag hire sa atin MERON. katulad ng employer ko, ini re-apply nila ako ulit, nag bigay ng reason kung bakit ka dapat i consider, so dipende po yan sa employer mo kung PAGLALABAN ka.

Ganito kasi yan, dito kasi, kahit anong pass ka pa, pag small company yan pag tratrabahuhan mo hindi talaga sila nagbibigay ng tamang sahod, actually dati 2500 lang ang E-PASS, ngayon 2800 tapos nga according sa news kahapon tataasan pa nila kaya lang di ko sure kung magkano na.

  Pwede mo naman Pakiusapan yung Agent mo kung pwede hulugan . minsan pwede yun, makipag negotiate ka.

  Bakit ang agent mo ay super sure at confident na mabibigyan ka ulit ng bago. kasi trabaho nila yun, walang agent ang nag sasabi ng totoong sitwasyon ngayon dito. unless ka close mo yung agent mo katulad ko. OO, mahahanapan ka nila ng employer, OO posibleng ma hire ka ulit PERO lahat naman yan nasa MOM ang Final Decision. Kung baga MOM ang pinaka boss nila. Always remember na ang MOM ang nag bibigay ng pass mo at hindi ang agent at ang employer mo. Well, kung gusto ka talaga nila, once na mareject ka pwede sila umapela, kaya lang BIBIHIRA na lang yun, Mangyayari lang yun kapag SOBRANG TAAS NG POSISYON MO AT SUPER NEED NA NILA, so kung hindi ganun ang sitwasyon mo, hindi na nag aatubili ang Employer kasi matrabaho yun, kasi susulatan nila ang MOM at magbibigay ng reason at ipaglalaban ka.

  Madali lang sagot dyan, pag nakuha mo na yung bago mong pass sa bago mong employer saka ka mag resign at saka ka mag cancel ng PASS, actually automatic na yun, pag pinatawag ka sa MOM para sa new pass mo, kailangan dala mo yung old pass mo kasi i-susurrender mo yan sa kanila.

  kase naman di ba when i read info on Mom’s website…if you’re an epass holder…me babayaran kang tax at the end of the year…if they ahd declared a different sahod sa mom..wont i have a problem if i apply for a PR? next queation…of course,,my name is at stake here..i dont wnt fake docs,misdeclaration on anything kase wala naman ako sa pinas,,,gusto ko kase legal at maayos lahat,,,sino ba naman hindi macoconfuse…ni contract nga hindi pa ako nakakasign…walang discussion basta sahod lang..anu un ?????? ni about commission scheme wala din,….tapos parang my hands are tied..and then what? i will suffer inc ase i declined the job and get confused on whether i get the other one they are telling me about..sa agent ko sa SG ako mismo mgwoork..instead of like referring me to another company…ako na ngayon ang magrerecruit ng company to get manpower services from the agency….compute compute pa siya about my birtday na parang numerology…

  My E pass is expiring this coming April 2012. Im married with a seven month old baby. Me and my hubby are E pass holders. My boy is on dependent pass.

  We just hired a maid and I am the registered employer. if just in case my employer will re apply S pass (permitted that MOM approves it) would it have an impact on my maid’s work permit? Eligible ba kumuha ng maid and S pass holder with a salary of 2.9k? Base sa new salary structure na epass should earn 3k.

  to all who has an experience like this:

  my husband was applying a job thru online via(www.workabroad.com) and luckily he was hired by a certain company in singapore, the agency from the above website were asking him a placement fee for 170k, and all the expences from POAE, medical and etc..from phils. will be shouldered by himself including the airfair ticket going to sg.my question is, would it be fine if the proccesing will be on that way, or there is an exact procedure on his case?
  please i need ur advise badly..

  Nde po porket hired n sya e my work n tlga sya, kailangan pa po sya iapply s GOvt dto kng maapruv ung PASS nya. Kng maapruv sya then tska po kau magbyad or give me the passport no. Ng asawa nyo then check ko po kng naaply b tlga sya.. Mhrap po dn kc umasa ng gnyan, lhat gastos nyo.

  Tama si Glai ang 170k ay masyadong malaki. right now, ang palitan ngayon ay 1sgd=35pesos.

  usually kasi, pag nasa pinas pa yung tao, siya talaga. ang mag babayad ng expenses.

  Hindi po ako dumaan sa POEA ng pinas, umexit po ako satin as a Tourist. pag dating ko dito sa SG saka ako nag apply sa Embassy natin ng OWWA. and medical po dapat sagot ng employer yun.

  Dumaan siya sa Agency, talagang tatagain siya ng Agency, pero kung aalis siya ng pinas ng malinis, dapat sagot ng agency ang lahat.

  And according to you, May Employer na siya diba? ANg next question is kung may IPA na ba siya. (In-Principal-Approval)?

  ganun naman po agreement nila.50% bayran nya if nsa sg na cya din remaining 50% after 4months na.2800sd po ang offer salary nya.nakalimutan ko na ang name ng agency pero nakuha nya yun sa http://www.workabroad.com, nakasulat nman dun ung POEA liscence nla…nabasa ko rin ung advantage ng visa nya kaya lang may nabasa akong news kahapon na i revise yta nga sg ang salary bracket ng e-pass holder effective jan.01 next year, balak ko sana next year pa ko punta dyan as his dependent if ok na cya lahat..pero di ko alam kung papano yan..

  Ok n ung agreement nyo n un kng tlgang 2800$ salary nya, mbbawi nyo nmn pla agad.. Pro iclear nyo muna kng tlgang 2800$, bka kc declare lng un s papel, nu work b?

  I’ve been here since last month with an IPA (S-Pass) but since then, i and my colleagues still haven’t had the work we had applied for. Its been 33 days now and our agency here in Singapore still says you need trainings, seminars and lectures and the like before working. And the fact that a fellow worker who is 40 days ahead of me here is having the same problem as mine make me think twice of when could we begin our job.

  If worse come to worst, would it be possible for me to apply for another job without being questioned by the MOM?

  Epass un ung my work experience n more than 5yrs tpos ang declare salary 2800 n yta, pwde mo mkuha ung asawa pra mging dependent sau, or parents pra mkpgwork dto.. Ung spass 5yrs below ang experienz, 2000 salary. Ok n po b? Sna nkatulong po ung msg ko!
